Proprietorship Firm Since 0
Mangels was founded on October 1, 1928, by two German immigrants, Max H.H. Mangels Jr. And Heinrich Kreutzberg, who had the intent of manufacturing galvanized water buckets. In those days, in Brazil, metal containers used for the transport of water were imported. Few areas of the country possessed modern water works. The Mangels philosophy of meeting market needs was born with the manufacture of this simple product. It was the first step in a process to adapt new technologies to Brazil's and to the world's rapidly developing economies. The first steps toward diversification came in 1932, when Mangels began to produce hardware for electric power distribution and transmission towers. In 1938, the company's pioneering spirit led it to become the first Brazilian manufacturer of cylinders for distribution of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LGP).
The beginning of the 1950s marked the debut in the firm of Max E. Mangels and Peter Mangels, the second generation of Mangels family managers. In 1958, as Brazil geared up to host a full-scale auto industry, Mangels began the manufacture of wheels and auto parts. From that moment on, Mangels has met the most rigorous international manufacturing standards.
In 1969, Mangels entered the business of cold-rolled steel strips manufacturing and created the first Steel Service Center in Latin America. In 1974, the firm acquired Lamina??o Baukus, a company making cold-rolled steel strips through advanced steel-alloy and heat-treatment technologies. Working in highly demanding markets, Mangels soon became a synonym for excellence. The recognized quality of Mangels' products made it possible for the company to find markets worldwide in Latin America, North America, Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
In 1989, in line with a worldwide trend toward substitution of steel wheels with aluminum-alloy products, Mangels inaugurated a new wheel-manufacturing facility. Mangels has never lost its talent for pioneering efforts and innovation. Based on this philosophy, the company has made major investments in improvement and development of its products. It closely follows technological development in its fields of endeavor and offers encouragement to its own employees as they strive to attain higher levels of professional qualification.
